This month, IAM encourages you to connect with our community partner Rising Sons, a nonprofit helping young men ages 18-30 become qualified for competitive jobs through civic engagement. Under the leadership of its Founder and President Alex Peay, @Rising_Sons now has 19 dedicated members who help run five after school programs and ongoing community engagement projects.
Alex is a recipient of the John S. & James L Knight Foundation’s Black Male Engagement Award, A United Way Philly Root’s Fellow, City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Award for Outstanding National Service Alumni, and member of the Mayor’s Commission of African American Men.
Recently, @Rising_Sons was featured in the January 2013 issue of Black Enterprise Magazine. Join Alex and @Rising_Sons this Saturday, August 17th for their 2nd Annual Family Day Cookout from 1pm-6pm on 17th and Ridge Ave. On Saturday,August 31st from 1pm-6pm @Rising_Sons will be hosting a Young Male Leaders Brunch at City Hall in the Council Caucus for males ages 18-30.
