Apply Now: IAM Mentoring for High School Students 2018 – 2019

 

IAM Mentoring is a program for High School students who reside in Philadelphia. The program starts Thursday, October 18, 2018 and ends Thursday, May 23, 2019. Workshops are held every Thursday from 5:30PM – 7:30PM in Center City or on the main campus of Temple University.

Each session, students are provided dinner. Students are responsible for their own transportation. If student receives ride credits for SEPTA from their school, IAM will provide necessary documentation for students to get extended rides for the program.

In addition to the weekly sessions, participating students will receive 1-on-1 mentoring sessions and the opportunity to apply for paid and/or unpaid summer jobs and internships.

dsc09733Session topics range from resume writing, managing money and credit, mock interviews, social media branding, entrepreneurship, college readiness, career exploration, artistry, conflict resolution, public speaking, community service and more!

There are only 30 openings in this year’s program. Students must complete the below application no later than October 12, 2018. Selected students will be contacted for a phone interview before being accepted into the program. Accepted students will pay a $100 one-time registration fee which will cover all program expenses for the year and their IAM T-Shirts. Financial Aid and payment arrangements can be made for accepted students in need.

IAM expects that all parents and/or guardians commit to ensuring students arrive to the program on-time and actively participate in each session.

September 30 – October 16: Phone Interviews

Thursday, October 18 at 5:30pm: Orientation and First Day of Program

All of the above dates are mandatory for students participating in the program. A detailed schedule of workshops, sessions and community service projects will be provided on the first day of program. Students are allowed only 3 excused absences during the course of the program year. Failure to comply with attendance guidelines will result in dismissal from the program.
